Learning Style

This time I would like to write about learning styles.

What is a learning style?

What are the different learning styles may people have?

What is your learning style?

Why is it important to know your learning style?

How can you know your own learning style?

Well, if you are interested in knowing the answers of these questions, you have to be patient and read what is written below.

A learning style is the way you prefer to learn by. You have to know your own learning style in order to determine the learning strategies that best suited for you.

There are different learning styles may people have. Some people are visual learners who like to learn through pictures, diagrams and charts. Other group of people is auditory learners who prefer to learn through listening to words or whatever. Some of them are kinesthetic who prefer learning through doing and hands on experiences.

Actually, there are some tests and questionnaires that may help you finding your own learning style. An example of these questionnaires is “DVC Survey” which gives you your learning style and the learning strategies that appropriate for it.

According to the DVC Survey, there are Four Learning Styles:
• The Visual/ Verbal Learning Style
• The Visual/ Nonverbal Learning Style
• The Tactile/ Kinesthetic Learning Style
• The Auditory/ Verbal Learning Style

Actually, my primary learning style is The Visual/ Nonverbal Learning Style. I remembered that when I was in school I was revising “Math” for exams by reading it. I was rarely using the paper and pencil for that purpose and “Thanks to Allah” because I was often getting the highest mark in the class in Math.

By the way, this is similar to one of my instructors in the university who was used to learn Math through reading rather than using paper and pen.

Although my learning style is Visual/ Nonverbal Learning, I like to learn through doing and hands on experience as well.

You also you can find your own learning style. Just you have to visit this site (DVC Survey) and fill in the survey.

Wish you all the best.

Actually the internet in Oman is very slow. I have dial-up connection and it is very slow. As I'm a student in SQU, sometimes I need to work on my projects when I returned home. However, when I need to download files from the web, It takes along time.
